PRESIDENT MAHAMA MADE A 
TRANSIT AT MAMFE AKUAPEM

A high powered government officials led by His Excellency the president John Mahama Dramani made a stop-over at Mamfe Akuapem on route to Koforidua to meet the people. The purpose of his transit was to thank the people of Akuapem and the entire citizenry of Ghana for the tremendous and exceptional love the people had shown during the burial and funeral ceremony of the late president His Excellency J.E.A Mills.

THE PREZ ARRIVING AT THE DURBAR GROUNDS
 
Mamfe round about which was noted as a busy and a taxi rank for Akuapem, Mampong, Adukrom, Accra and other Akropong-Akuapem villages and towns witnessed a rousing and a warmth welcome to the newly sworn into office, His Excellency the president John Mahama. As early as 6.00 A.M people from all walks of life gathered at the transit point awaiting the arrival of the president. In attendance at a durbar held on his behalf was the Lion Life Band from the Akuapem ridge to entertain the crowd to melodious gospels and Hi-life music of old memories.

At exactly 10:38 A.M, the president arrived amidst cheering, waiving, drumming and dancing to welcome him. Also present were a large gathering of chiefs to show the president of Okuapeman’s immeasurable love and support to the presidency. Notably among them were the Mamfehene Osabarima Ansah Sasraku III-Kyedomhene of Akropong, Nana Osim Nketia II chief of Amanorkrom-Gyasehene of Akropong-Akuapem, Chief of Aseseeso Nana Oboadom and Nana Ofei-Ansah I- Krontihene of Akropong-Akuapem.

SOME TRADITIONAL CHIEFS PRESENT
 
The chief of Mamfe Nana Ansah Sasaraku III in his welcome address recalled the harmony and love that existed between the late President Mills and the Akuapem states. He said Okuapeman would really behind President Mahama because they see him as worthy successor as he possesses sterling qualities and humility of the late President. He thanked the Presidency for acknowledging the Akuapem states as he toured the region. On behalf of the Traditional council, he presented a ram to him to signify peace and love.

In his speech, president Mahama was elated by the rousing welcome he had received on arrival. He gave the people a thumb up for the love and support they have given during the funeral and burial ceremony of His Excellency the late president J.E.A Mills. He said for him, the late president could not be given a befitting burial than togetherness that was demonstrated irrespective of party affiliations. He advised that each and sundry should eschew petty internal ranglings, politics of insults. He explained that the level of maturity the nation had shown had won international recognition as fellow heads of states and presidents kept calling to commend Ghana. He said the nation need to keep the peace flame burning during the entire period of the incoming 2012 election in December so that at the end of the day whoever is elected would be wholly accepted by all.

The president entourage was made up of the chief of Staff John Mantey Newman, the Regional Minister H.E Ambassador Victor Smith, Deputy Reg. Minster Oblitey Clottey, former Regional Ministers Hon. Ofosu Ampofo and Akyem Appiah-Kubi, Honourable M.C.E of Akuapem Municipal George Opare Addo, Mad. Margaret Ansah Parliamentary Candidate of Akuapem constituency, Constituency Chairpersons of both Akuapem and Okere Victor Doku and Dorglas Adjei respectively.
