WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL DAY 
OBSERVED AT AKROPONG

This year’s World Environmental day was observed amidst drumming, dancing poet recital and drama at a grand durbar at Salem School Park at Akropong. The programme was organized by
Ghana National Scholarship Beneficiaries Association (NASBA) in conjunction with Fan Milk Ghana Limited.

The program was attended by the Akuapem North Education Director,  the National Chairman (GNASBA) the sales and marketing manager of Fan Milk Limited, The representative of the District Chief Executive Mr. Kofi Abutiate The (Environmental Health Officer), pupils, Teachers and Heads of Junior and Senior High Schools.

MR. ABUTIATE WATCHING PROCEEDINGS

 In his speech, the representative of the District Chief Executive Mr. Kofi Abutiate who is also the District Environmental Health Officer advised teachers, school children and the general public to keep their homes and their surroundings clean. He stressed that most ailments around us comes as a result of filth in our communities. He entreated teachers to inculcate the habit of personal hygiene in their pupils. He said currently our environment is depleted as a result of indiscriminate cutting down of trees. This he said has contributed in no small way to climatic change. He entreated all and sundry to constantly keep their surroundings speak and span and desist from defecating at open places, cutting down trees and sand winning.


 TEACHERS & PUPILS AT THE CEREMONY

In his address earlier, the Sales and Marketing Manager of Fan Milk Ghana Limited has commended GNASBA a great deal in its efforts to help people in their educational pursuits at all stages. He said Fan Milk in its quest to contribute in nation building, the company has made it its civic responsibility in organising clean ups, tree planting and donating waste bins in various districts. He said at least every week, they organise a programme somewhere as part of the company’s contribution to the nation. He also encouraged students to take their education serious and consider vocational aspects of it. The company donated 60 waste bins to 30 selected schools within the district.
 
Mr. Anthony Kofi Abutiate, the Environmental Health Officer praised Fan Milk for bringing such a programme to the district. He accepted the bins on behalf of the schools and thanked the company for its kind gesture.
